Taking profits in AUY

I did not blog about this position. But I took on a position with the trading group that I run at work. We bought 10 Sep 09 calls at $10 strike for .34 and sold today before they report tomorrow at .65 for a little less than 100% profit. As the trend for most of the earnings this season has been for the stock to rise into earnings and then fall the day of, our holding period was for 3 days and our exit was planned for the day before earnings.

The execution on the trade worked out very nicely. Chop!

Until next time.

  1. Awesome you're getting your co-workers involved. How does that work? Too bad I work around mostly people without money.

  2. That's one of the purposes of this forum!! We create the environment we would rather be in. One of the reasons I'm now willing to take a job is just to be around other people that have the same interests I do. Maybe down the road we can all be hooked up trading during the day from remote locations. I'm counting the days until I'm a free man so I can pursue my interests and hobbies full time.

  3. My boss and a couple of close co-workers always are interested so I decided to setup a group that we call brown bag’s. Where they bring their lunch and I teach them something about the markets. They all decided that they wanted to try what they learn with real money so I gave them the full disclosure that I do not guarantee any profits but that I would be more than happy to guide them through some trades. They are all very good sports and all started with $2000. As our first trade did not go very well this one basically brings us back to break even. They are just having fun learning, and it is always more fun when you make some money in the process. Or even just enough to break even and cover commissions.

I really enjoy sharing what I know with others. To tell you the truth it is really like a checks and balances anytime you get other people involved.

And to Jason, You are so right. Once I go live and you are free, we should get a skype conference call going on. Its free.

  4. I was checking out skype today. I've heard about it but never actually used or investigated it. I'm going to download their free version soon and if anyone wants to test it out let me know.

  5. You can look me up once you download it. It is actually always free as long as you just use it to call or IM from computer to computer. I think you can search for me by name or email.

  6. I have Skype too. I use it to talk with my brother via web cam. To be honest, we can all be hooking up via free video and audio whenever we want. I'm not going to be available until mid December, but do plan on spending Jan-June of 2010 at least watching full time and most likely playing too.
